Excellent! He is a great character and I can envision him in classy cloths. Can't wait to see your cosplay.

I am going to go in my Princess Ai cosplay

Will this work for the ball?

The skirt looks a little short so if it could be lengthened, it would be perfect.

Just double checking: Crossplay IS allowed yes?

I'm thinking of crossplaying a formal!Reno for it.

To reiterate the opening post with the dress code~

Crossplay and fursuits will also be allowed in as long as they are formal.

I may be wearing a Rossiu cosplay, from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, to the ball. I'm pretty sure the outfit itself won't be a problem; my question is, would you consider tinted glasses as a substitute for a "mask?"

I'd like to give them a custom design, the way several other characters in the series have (Simon, Kamina, Yoko, Boota) though if that doesn't work out, I might just buy some safety glasses like these or maybe these instead. So... what d'you think?

And of course if the outfit itself doesn't look formal enough please let me know.

AND if anyone has any design ideas for what Rossiu's glasses would look like if he had some, PM me. 'Cause I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
Ideas for future Cosplay:
~Ghaleon, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (because I'll keep saying it every year until it actually happens!)
~Rossiu, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
~Renkotsu, Inu-Yasha
~Someone from Eternal Sonata
~Kiros, Final Fantasy VIII
Any of these jump out at you? Drop me a message to let me know!

Just some general ideas I had coming to mind:
try to wear the mask on your shades? (heh, might look funny. like your second link though)
... probably need a tie though.
Since I'm not Matrix, I cannot give official answers regarding this >.>

The outfit will be fine but maybe think about adding a few accessories to dress it up a little? Like maybe underneath, wear a dress shirt with a tie. Though how you would see it, I don't know but I'm just trying to give a few ideas.

As far as the glasses, unfortunately tinted glasses don't count as a mask :(. Though one year I did see someone attach a mask on a pair of glasses. Another idea is to use face paint and paint a mask on so you can wear the glasses over it- I've seen people do that too and that's allowed in.

I invite people to be as creative as they can with the "Masks Required" rule. It is a Masquerade Ball after all ^_^.

Okay, fair enough. Thanks Tabitha!

Just to be clear, the only reason I was going to make the glasses in the first place was to serve as a mask-- he doesn't have a pair of glasses in the show so it's not a part of the cosplay, I just figured it was something that would fit the "feel" of the cosplay itself while fulfilling the requirements for getting into the ball. Wearing a mask on top of glasses I made so I wouldn't have to wear a mask would render the glasses a tad redundant. So in light of this I probably won't make glasses at all except perhaps as a side project just for fun.

And if I end up wearing this to the Masquerade (it's still kind of up in the air) I'll be sure to wear a shirt and tie underneath it :P

Hehe ok. I haven't seen Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann so I'm not familiar with the character ^_^. If there are anymore questions, please ask!

I know you guys already talked about music and whatnot, but my friends and I were hoping for a type of Masquerade like Kumori's (music wise) where they played a variety of music. I agree that there should be waltzing music and what not, but I think that if you mix it up a bit (like kumori had waltz music, tango and anime daces *coughHareHarecough*. If you mix it up people don’t get bored with ONLY waltzing.
Hm I guess what I am trying to say, is that if you focus mainly on waltzing and ballroom music that’s cool, but add a couple "more upbeat" songs after every like 10 or so waltzy songs. >.> Just my opinion ^^; the friends and I are REALLY looking forward to the ball, but personally we aren’t wanting to waltz the entire time.

If I misunderstood anything...sorry 0.0

Chances are that Matrix will be carrying out that.
Anime Matrix wrote:For this year, I'm thinking about doing a mix. I think people can ballroom dance to anything if it's played at the right tempo. I do plan on playing classical waltz music but with a twist.
I have a few ideas about how to do the music and I've asked for ideas with one of the other Programming people. And I agree- I think having live music for the ball helps add to the atmosphere.

While I have this quoted, matrix, tell me some ideas you have with this "twist". You say having live music is one of them, and that would be pretty cool. What other things you got in mind?
