Go for it. Staff are not excluded from submissions, as there are no Rules stating that staff cannot enter in the mascot contest.

If I remember correct a staff member has bee in the top 3 before. Voting is blind - no names or anything are known to the people who are voting and the entries aren't allowed to be posted anywhere before voting - so it's not like they'd have an advantage or disadvantage
